From 23rd May 2016 until summer 2017, a temporary roundabout will be in operation at the A555/ Woodford Road, Bramhall junction.

By building the temporary roundabout, traffic will still be able to use Woodford Road during the construction of the new bridge  that will take the road over the A6MARR. The temporary roundabout is located approximately 50 metres west of the existing roundabout and will require a temporary realignment of Woodford Road on the approaches to the roundabout.

The temporary roundabout has been designed to have the same traffic capacity as the roundabout arrangement currently in place, therefore, we do not expect it to cause additional delays to journey times. All traffic movements that can be made at the existing Woodford Road/ A555 junction will still be possible in the new arrangement.

A temporary footway will be provided on the eastern side of the realigned Woodford Road that will tie in to the existing footway north and south of the roundabout. The footway on the western side of Woodford Road adjacent to the roundabout will be closed during the works. Vehicular access to properties on Woodford Road will be maintained during works. The layout of the roundabout is illustrated on the plan below.

The diversion route during the closure will be via: Stanley Road, Grove Lane, Acre Lane, Moss Lane, Woodford Road, Chester Road, Wilmslow Road, A5102/Woodford Road, Dean Row Road and vice versa.
